Sepak Takraw Events Get Nod For 2025 Thailand SEA Games
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 (Bernama) -- The Asian Sepaktakraw Federation (ASTAF) has confirmed that the team regu, regu, quadrant, hoop and chinlone (linking) events will be featured at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand from Dec 9 to 20, 2025.
ASTAF president Datuk Abdul Halim Kader said the events were approved at the SEA Games Federation Council Meeting on Oct 25.
“We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the leadership of the Thailand NOC (National Olympic Committee), led by its president, General Prawit Wongsuwan.
“We also appreciate the excellent preparation by the Thailand SEA Games Federation Council and the SEA Games Federation Office, led by its chief executive officer Chaiyapak Siriwat,” he said in a statement today.
Abdul Halim said that Group A (Open Category) includes the men’s and women’s team regu events; Group B allows countries to choose two out of three events: regu, quadrant and hoop for both men and women; Group C (Open Category) introduces the mixed quadrant event; and Group D (Open Category) for Chinlone (linking) events for men and women.
The statement added that the participating countries can send up to 21 men and/or 21 women players for sepak takraw and a minimum of six and a maximum of eight men and/or women players for chinlone.
Each country must also nominate two ASTAF-approved accompanying referees for the competition.
